Dear Rural Caucus Members

Our next meeting will be during the CDP State Convention on May 25th-28th.  Registration for the Convention will open on April 1st. At this meeting, we will be holding elections for our Rural Caucus officers. We will be doing a hybrid meeting with members voting virtually. More on this later!

We have four statewide officers and ten regional officers up for election at this convention. The list of officers is on our website.  You can read up on each position’s requirements and role in our bylaws. You must be a Caucus member in good standing to vote or run in this election. Please be sure you are current on your membership dues.

If you are interested in running for election or re-election please use this form to submit your notification of intent to run. Please note a complete nomination must include a campaign statement and photo. All nominations must be received by May 22, 2023, at 5:00 pm in order to be considered.

More details will follow as we get closer to the Convention and the day/time for our Caucus meeting is set.

When is the election:

During Convention May 25-28th -TBD

The meeting will be hybrid with voting taking place online.

Please make sure to pay dues before the meeting

 

Who can vote:

All Rural Caucus Members* in good standing may vote in the election.  Members must be credentialed at the door.  Members may pay at door and be verified at the same time. To streamline the process, please join today.

Please note, all Caucus members are welcome at the Caucus meetings and do not need to be full convention attendees in order to attend the caucus meetings.

*Qualifications for membership include: All persons who are (i) registered Democrats, pursuant to the laws of the State of California, or (ii) ineligible to register as Democrats due to Election Code, but who have expressed an intent to register as a Democrat upon becoming eligible are eligible for membership in This Caucus, have an interest in identifying rural issues and promoting rural Democratic values of California, subscribe to the purposes of the Rural Caucus and have paid dues, or has had dues waived, shall be a “Member in Good Standing” with full voting rights.

 

Who can run:

All candidates must submit their completed and signed nomination form to the Secretary of The Caucus by the “DEADLINE” (May 22, 2023, at 5 PM) 7 days in advance of the Regular Election, along with a Certification of their Delegate Membership in the Democratic State Central Committee when required for the position to which they are applying.  When the deadline has passed, any filing after the 7-day deadline is referred to as a “Nomination from the Floor” and the verified eligible nominee is referred to as a “WRITE-IN” whose write-in name on the ballot may be considered a valid vote.
